Sohag Map Poster & Print
Sohag stretches along the west bank of the Nile in Upper Egypt, with the old town of Akhmim facing it across the water. From above, the river is the dominant shape: a broad band running roughly north to south, crossed by bridges that tie the two banks together. The city is long and narrow, following the water rather than spreading away from it.
Beyond the built-up area, a strip of irrigated fields and canals runs parallel to the river and then ends abruptly at the edge of the desert. That sharp line between farmed land and dry ground is one of the most striking features of any map of the Nile valley, and it shows clearly here. Inside the city the streets are dense and mostly irregular, with a few longer roads along the river.
West of the city stand the White Monastery and the Red Monastery, early Coptic foundations that remain among the best-known monuments of the region. Akhmim, across the river, has ancient roots of its own. A Sohag map poster frames the city the way the valley shapes it: water, fields, streets and the start of the desert, all in fine black lines.

Field and canal strip
Irrigation canals and field boundaries fill the narrow farmed belt beside the river. They are drawn as fine parallel lines that contrast with the denser street pattern of the city.
Desert edge
To the west, farmland stops at a clear line where the desert begins. The open white space beyond it makes the narrowness of the valley easy to read.
