Alcalá de Henares Map Poster & Print
Alcalá de Henares stands on the north bank of the Henares River, some thirty kilometres east of Madrid. From above, the old town forms a tight oval of narrow streets and walled blocks, threaded by the long, straight Calle Mayor. Around it spread twentieth-century neighbourhoods, industrial estates and rail lines, while the river curves along the southern edge beneath low hills.
The city was the Roman town of Complutum and later home to the university founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1499, whose historic precinct is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Miguel de Cervantes was born here in 1547, and the Calle Mayor, with its long rows of porticoes, is one of the longest arcaded streets in Spain.
An Alcalá de Henares map poster shows this layering clearly: the dense historic core with its college quadrangles and plazas, the ring of later housing, the motorway and railway to Madrid, and the loops of the river. In black and white, the courtyards of the colleges appear as small pale squares within the old town.

University precinct
The Colegio de San Ildefonso and the colleges around the Plaza de San Diego form a cluster of cloistered courtyards, visible from above as a distinctive pattern of enclosed squares.
Henares River
The river bends along the south side of the city, with parks and open land on its banks. It gives the poster a gentle curve against the regular modern blocks.

چرا Alcalá de Henares
نقشه‌ای با معنا
Alcalá is a university city, and many people who hang this map studied here, taught here or came for a year abroad. It also suits admirers of Cervantes and anyone in the Madrid region who wants a map with a clear historic heart close to the capital.
The poster can carry your own title, subtitle and coordinates, such as a graduation year or the address of a first flat. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand; Paper gives the old town the feel of an antique printed plan.
