Saint-Michel-de-Chaillol Map Poster & Print
Saint-Michel-de-Chaillol lies in the Champsaur, the broad upper valley of the Drac in the Hautes-Alpes. The village sits on the sunny side of the valley, above the farmland of the valley floor, and its territory rises toward the mountains at the edge of the Écrins National Park. On a map the commune looks like a long ramp, starting in cultivated ground and ending in steep, empty terrain.
Higher up is the ski station known as Chaillol 1600, a modest resort favoured by families and by skiers who prefer small, unhurried areas. Its buildings form a tight cluster, and from there the lifts and pistes head uphill in thin, straight strokes. Lower down, lanes connect scattered hamlets, while torrents cut shallow lines down the slope toward the Drac.
A Saint-Michel-de-Chaillol map poster captures that climb in a single frame: dense detail at the bottom, a small knot of chalets in the middle, and increasingly open white space toward the peaks. It is a quiet, balanced image, well suited to anyone who knows the Champsaur from summer hiking or from a week of winter skiing.

Valley farmland
Toward the Drac, the lower part of the commune shows a patchwork of lanes, fields and small hamlets spread across the gentler agricultural ground of the Champsaur.
Edge of the Écrins
The upper part of the commune rises toward high mountain terrain bordering the national park, where the map becomes spare, marked mostly by streams and a few paths.
