Curanilahue Map Poster & Print
Curanilahue lies in the Arauco Province of Chile's Biobío region, in the foothills of the Nahuelbuta coastal range. From above, the town stretches along a narrow valley. Streets follow the valley floor and climb partway up the slopes, while forested hills close in on either side. The shape is long and thin rather than compact.
The town's history is tied to coal. For much of the twentieth century, Curanilahue was one of the mining towns of the Arauco coalfield, and its growth followed the mines. Today, forestry dominates the surrounding landscape, and plantations cover much of the hillsides that frame the valley.
A Curanilahue map poster shows how strongly terrain shapes a town. The streets bend with the valley, and roads wind in and out between the hills. In monochrome, the contrast between the dense ribbon of the town and the dark, open land around it gives the poster a clear sense of place, rooted in the story of a working town.

Hillside streets
Some neighbourhoods climb the lower slopes, where streets bend and curve to follow the contours of the hills around them.
Surrounding hills
Forested hills of the Nahuelbuta foothills frame the town on both sides, leaving wide, quiet space around the built-up area.

Miksi Curanilahue
Kartta, jolla on merkitystä
Families with a history in Curanilahue's mines, and those who grew up in its valley, often keep a strong attachment to the town. A map poster honours that history and brings its familiar shape into the home.
Customise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or a year of arrival. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir suits the dark wooded hills.
