San Pedro de Urabá lies in the northern part of Antioquia, in the Urabá region, inland from the Caribbean coast and close to the boundary with the department of Córdoba. On a map the town is a compact grid of blocks sitting in rolling, open country. Its streets are laid out regularly around the centre, and the pattern ends quite abruptly where the town meets pasture.
Away from the coastal banana belt usually associated with Urabá, the land around San Pedro is mostly used for livestock and farming. The map reflects that.
