Ang mapa
Anping Map Poster & Print
Anping lies in the mountainous northeast of Chongqing municipality, in the steep country around the Yangtze and its gorges. The land here allows little room for flat, regular planning. From above, the town fits into the space available, with streets packed into valley floors and following the lower slopes.
Roads wind in switchbacks up and around the hills and link the town with neighbouring settlements and the wider river region. Terraced fields and scattered houses cover the slopes. Streams run down narrow valleys, and the surrounding ridges give the map a strongly shaped, almost sculpted outline.
An Anping map poster shows how terrain can shape a settlement. The tightly packed centre contrasts with the looping mountain roads and the fine lines of terraces and valleys. In black and white, it becomes a detailed image full of movement, typical of the steep interior of Chongqing.

Mountain switchbacks
Roads climb the surrounding hills in winding curves and hairpin turns. These looping lines are among the most striking features of the map.
Terraced slopes
Fields and houses cover the hillsides in small terraces and plots. They add a fine, layered texture that shows the shape of the land.
