Dalandzadgad is the administrative centre of Ömnögovĭ, Mongolia's South Gobi province. On a map it looks almost like a diagram. A small, orderly grid of streets and blocks sits in a vast area of open desert steppe, with roads and tracks heading out towards distant settlements.
