Regular grid
The town's streets form an orderly pattern of blocks. It prints as a clean, even texture in the centre of the sheet.

Ang mapa
João Lisboa Map Poster & Print
João Lisboa is a town in the west of Maranhão state, close to Imperatriz, one of the region's main cities. It is named after João Francisco Lisboa, a nineteenth-century journalist and writer from Maranhão. The municipality grew in a region of agriculture and cattle raising that expanded as roads opened this part of Brazil to settlement.
From above, the town is a fairly regular grid of streets laid out on relatively flat land. Its edges are open, with blocks thinning out into fields and pastures. Roads leading toward Imperatriz and other towns in the region give it its main lines of connection and define the direction of growth.
A João Lisboa map poster shows a small Brazilian interior town clearly: a neat grid, a few main roads and a generous landscape around it. In black and white the regularity of the streets is emphasised, and the empty space of the countryside gives the composition a quiet, spacious feel. It is a map about home rather than landmarks.

Roads to Imperatriz
Main roads connect the town with nearby Imperatriz and the rest of the region. They are the strongest lines leading away from the centre.
Open countryside
Farmland and pasture surround the town on all sides. On paper it forms a broad, calm border around the built-up area.

Bakit João Lisboa
Isang mapang may kahulugan
For families from João Lisboa, many of whom now live in Imperatriz or further away, a map of the town is a way to keep a small place visible on the wall.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name or birth year, and choose from five styles. Classic black and white and Sand both suit the open, flat landscape.
