Kuttampuzha is a village panchayat in the east of Ernakulam district, Kerala, reaching up into the forested hills of the Western Ghats. It is often described as one of the largest panchayats in the state by area, and much of that area is forest. Rivers shape the landscape. The Periyar and its tributaries run through the area, and the Thattekad bird sanctuary, named after the ornithologist Salim Ali, lies along the river nearby.
