Ang mapa
La Romana Map Poster & Print
La Romana lies on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, where the Río Dulce meets the Caribbean. On a map, the city sits on the river mouth, with a harbour and cruise terminal on the water. The regular streets of the centre spread inland from the coast.
For more than a century the city has been shaped by sugar. The large Central Romana sugar mill and its surrounding cane fields cover much of the land around the city. To the east lies Casa de Campo, a large resort with golf courses and a marina. Beyond it is Altos de Chavón, a re-created Mediterranean-style village above the Chavón river.
A La Romana map poster brings together the grid of the town, the river mouth, the long coastline and the edge of the cane fields. Catalina Island lies just offshore, adding a clean, simple shape to the sea.

The Central Romana mill and its surrounding cane fields cover large areas around the city. Their broad, regular parcels frame the urban area.
Catalina Island
The small island lies off the coast to the southwest and appears as a clean outline in the sea. It is a well-known destination for boat trips from the city.
