Rectilinear streets
The town's streets mostly meet at right angles, so the centre of the poster has a steady, ordered rhythm.

Ang mapa
Liguo Map Poster & Print
Liguo lies on the flat ground of the North China Plain, close to the boundary between Shandong and Jiangsu and not far north of the city of Xuzhou. The land here is intensively farmed. On a map the town is a concentrated block of streets inside a wide, regular pattern of field roads and village clusters.
Flat terrain tends to produce straight lines, and that holds true here. Main roads run long and direct, and the smaller streets inside the town follow a mostly rectangular layout. Toward the west, the wider region has lakes and waterways linked to the Grand Canal, which appear in larger framings as broad open shapes.
A Liguo map poster is a quiet, graphic piece. There is no dramatic coastline or mountain to compete for attention, so the character of the design comes from rhythm: blocks, lanes and fields repeating evenly out to the edges of the page. It is a portrait of a working town in one of China's most densely populated regions.

Field patterns
Around the town, farm roads divide the plain into regular parcels. In wider framings this pattern becomes a fine, even texture.
Water to the west
Wider views reach the lakes and canal waterways of the region. These large, smooth shapes contrast with the straight lines of the plain.

Bakit Liguo
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Small towns on the plain are rarely drawn with much care, and this map gives Liguo the attention usually kept for large cities. You can add a name, a family date or the town's name in Chinese characters to the title and subtitle.
The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the layout before buying. The HD files cost $9 and come without a watermark.
