Sibi sits on the broad, flat Kachhi plain in Balochistan, where the land is open and almost level in every direction. The town is built around its bazaar and its railway junction. From above, the dense core breaks up at the edges into scattered compounds, irrigated fields and dry land, and a few long roads run out across the plain.
The area is known for its heat: summer temperatures in Sibi are among the highest recorded in Pakistan. It is also known for the Sibi Mela, an annual festival with a long history and a large livestock and horse show that draws people from across the province. To the northwest, the route climbs toward the Bolan Pass and Quetta.
