Siddhapur lies in Patan district in northern Gujarat, on the banks of the Saraswati River. On the map, the river's wide, often dry bed runs along the edge of the town. The town is known for the ruins of the Rudra Mahalaya, a large temple complex built under the Chaulukya (Solanki) rulers. Only fragments of it still stand. It is famous, too, for its Dawoodi Bohra quarter, where rows of colourful, richly decorated houses line the streets built in the early twentieth century.
