Sint-Truiden is a historic town in the province of Limburg and the centre of Haspengouw, the fruit-growing region of eastern Flanders. A ring road follows the line of the medieval ramparts around the old core, so on a map the centre is a clearly bounded oval. The town grew around the abbey founded by Saint Trudo in the seventh century and still carries his name.
