Ang mapa
Uttiramerūr Map Poster & Print
Uttiramerūr lies in northern Tamil Nadu, south of Kanchipuram, in a landscape of paddy fields, irrigation tanks and small villages. On a map the town forms a compact core of streets around its temples. Large tanks sit nearby, and roads run out across the flat, farmed plain that surrounds it on every side.
The town is widely known for its tenth-century Chola inscriptions, carved on temple walls, which describe in detail how members of the village assembly were chosen. They set out eligibility rules and a selection process using palm-leaf ballots drawn from a pot. They are often cited in discussions of early local self-government in India.
An Uttiramerūr map poster captures a traditional South Indian town plan: streets arranged around sacred sites, the large geometric outlines of water tanks, and fields stretching to the edges of the frame. It is a small town with an outsized place in history, and the map presents it with the restraint and clarity it deserves.

Irrigation tanks
Large tanks near the town appear as bold, geometric shapes on the map. They belong to a centuries-old system of water storage that still supports the surrounding fields.
Paddy plain
Beyond the town, flat farmland and village roads spread out evenly, giving the poster a calm, open border around the dense centre.

Bakit Uttiramerūr
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Uttiramerūr appeals to people with family roots around Kanchipuram and to anyone interested in the history of Indian democracy. The poster is a subtle way to honour a place better known in textbooks than on maps.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates with your family name, a date or a short dedication, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand give the temple town a warm, archival feel.
