From above, it looks like a loose grid of streets and compounds set among open land, with roads heading out toward the rest of the island and the southern coast. Androy is home to the Antandroy people, and the region is known for its dry climate and spiny forest. Water is scarce and droughts come often, which shapes how the town and its surroundings are laid out.
