Valley and slope
The town spreads freely across the flat valley floor, then meets the mountains to the east, where streets thin out into winding roads and scattered houses.

Dornbirn Map Poster & Print
Dornbirn lies where the flat floor of the Alpine Rhine valley meets the first steep mountains of the Bregenz Forest, a short distance south of Lake Constance. Its map shows that transition clearly: a wide, spreading town on the plain, with streets that stop abruptly or begin to switch back as the land rises to the east.
It is the largest town in Vorarlberg and was for generations a centre of the textile industry. The Dornbirner Ach flows out of the mountains through the town, and the Karren, a mountain directly above it, is reached by cable car. Nearby, the Rappenloch gorge cuts deep into the rock, one of the region's best-known walks.
A Dornbirn map poster balances the regular, dense fabric of the valley town with the open, contour-bound mountainside. The river and the main roads give it direction, and the change from plain to slope gives it depth. The result is a map with a clear sense of landscape, well suited to anyone who knows the valley.

Dornbirner Ach
The river emerges from the mountains and runs through the town toward the Rhine valley plain, a gentle line that crosses the densest part of the map.
Separate districts
Dornbirn grew from several villages, and the map still shows distinct clusters along the valley edge, joined by main roads into a single long town.

למה Dornbirn
מפה עם משמעות
Dornbirn is home, workplace or study town for many in western Austria, and its mix of town and mountain makes for an attractive print. It suits a flat in Vienna as much as a house in the valley itself.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for example with a district name or a date, and keep the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the $9 HD files or order a matte print, framed if you wish.
