Gokavaram is a town in the East Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh, India, north of the city of Rajahmundry. It lies where the flat, fertile plains of the Godavari basin begin to give way to the low hills of the Eastern Ghats. On a map, the dense pattern of fields and villages to the south thins out toward the more open, wooded country to the north.
The town's streets form an irregular network around a central market area and the main roads through it. Lanes branch off toward residential neighbourhoods and out into farmland, where irrigation channels and field boundaries shape the surrounding pattern.
