Jadcherla lies in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, on the Deccan plateau some 80 kilometres south of Hyderabad. The town has grown up around its transport links. The national highway toward Bengaluru runs past it and a railway line crosses the area. The older streets sit between these routes, and newer colonies spread outward into the flat, rocky land around them.
The landscape is typical of the Telangana plateau, with granite outcrops and scattered boulders breaking up farmland and scrub. Tanks, the traditional irrigation reservoirs of the region, dot the countryside and show up clearly on the map as irregular patches of water.
