Hillside setting
Kanye's roads bend around rocky ridges and higher ground, so the map shows a flowing street pattern rare in Botswana's generally flat terrain.

Kanye Map Poster & Print
Kanye is the administrative centre of Botswana's Southern District and the traditional seat of the Bangwaketse people. Unlike much of the country, which is flat and sandy, Kanye sits among rocky hills, and the settlement grew around and over them. This makes its map unusually varied for Botswana, with roads curving around high ground and neighbourhoods spread across slopes and valleys.
Like other large Tswana settlements, Kanye developed in wards, each historically centred on a kgotla, the traditional meeting place where community matters are discussed. The result on the map is a loose, clustered pattern rather than a single planned grid. The Kanye Gorge, a narrow cleft in the hills near the town, adds a dramatic natural feature to the surrounding landscape.
A Kanye map poster traces this organic growth in black and white: the clusters of homesteads, the roads winding between hills and the open ground in between. It is a meaningful piece for people from the Ngwaketse area who want the shape of their home town, with all its hills and hollows, on the wall.

Kanye Gorge
The narrow gorge in the hills near the town cuts a distinctive natural line through the landscape, a quiet counterpoint to the settled areas on the map.
Clustered wards
The town's traditional ward structure produces groups of homesteads with open land between them, giving the drawing a rhythm of dense clusters and calm empty space.
