Khosrowshahr lies in East Azerbaijan province, a short drive southwest of Tabriz, on the gently sloping ground between the Sahand massif and the lowlands that lead toward Lake Urmia. The land around the town is largely given over to orchards and farming, divided into long, narrow plots watered by channels descending from the higher ground.
