Lalín is the main town of the Deza comarca in the province of Pontevedra, close to the geographic centre of Galicia. From above, the town itself is compact, a small cluster of central streets and squares. The wider municipality spreads into dozens of rural parishes linked by winding country roads. Fields, woods and hamlets turn the map into a patchwork.
The town is known across Spain for the Feira do Cocido, a winter festival devoted to the Galician stew that draws large crowds each year. Livestock farming has long shaped the local economy.
