Mīnjūr is a town in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district, north of Chennai, where the city's suburbs start to give way to open land. On the map it forms a compact knot of streets near a railway line, with roads leaving it in several directions. Past the built-up centre the pattern opens out into larger plots, water bodies and the flat country that runs east toward the Bay of Bengal.
