Negotino sits in the Vardar valley in central North Macedonia, where the country's main river corridor opens into a broad, warm basin. From above, the town is a tight cluster of streets on the valley floor, with the rail line and main road running alongside it on the same north–south axis the Vardar follows.
This is the heart of the Tikveš wine region, one of the best-known grape-growing areas in the Balkans. On a detailed map the vineyards show up only as open space, but that emptiness frames the town. The built area stays compact, and the farm tracks spread out from its edges in long parallel lines, tracing field boundaries rather than the curves of a planned grid.
