Road and rail corridor
The highway and railway running through town set the main axis of the map, and most of the street grid is aligned to them.

Progreso Map Poster & Print
Progreso sits in Canelones, a short distance north of Montevideo, on the low, rolling countryside that supplies much of the capital's produce. On a map the town follows its transport lines: a highway and a railway run through it, and the streets grow out from them in a regular, mostly rectangular pattern.
The grid is typical of Uruguayan interior towns. Blocks are laid out square and even, with a few diagonals and a looser pattern at the edges, where plots give way to small farms and vineyards. Streams and field boundaries soften the frame and show the agricultural setting.
A Progreso map poster suits someone who knows the commute to Montevideo, the quiet side streets or a family house in the town. Its orderly blocks and long transport lines make a clear, balanced design in any of the monochrome styles.

Regular block grid
Square blocks fill the centre in a tidy chequerboard, a pattern that reads especially well in the clean lines of a black-and-white print.
Canelones farmland
Around the edges, streets thin out into small farms and vineyard plots, a reminder that the town sits in Uruguay's main market-garden region.
