Sent sits on a broad, south-facing terrace high above the Inn in the Lower Engadine, in the eastern part of the canton of Graubünden. The village itself is compact, a close-knit group of streets and houses, but its former municipal territory of more than a hundred square kilometres stretches far beyond it, up into side valleys, forests and high pastures.
The village is known for its Engadine houses, thick-walled buildings with deep-set windows and facades often decorated with sgraffito, arranged around small squares and fountains. Since 2015 Sent has been part of the municipality of Scuol, a short distance to the west. Romansh remains the everyday language of the area.
