‘Āmūdā lies in Al-Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria, right on the border with Turkey. It sits on the broad, flat plain of the upper Jazira. This is open farmland watered by rain and wells, known for its grain fields, and the terrain barely rises for kilometres in any direction.
