Benoy is a town in Logone Occidental, in the relatively well-watered south of Chad. The country here is savanna, with fields, scattered trees and seasonal streams, and rainfall is much higher than in the north. On a map the town is a spread of residential blocks and yards, with roads connecting it to the rest of the region.
The street network is loose. Some straighter roads cross the town, and smaller lanes fill the spaces between them, following property lines and footpaths.
