Croix is part of the Lille metropolitan area, set between Roubaix and Wasquehal in northern France. From above, it is fully joined to its neighbours, with dense terraced streets from the textile era meeting wider avenues and larger plots. The Canal de Roubaix passes through the area, a straight waterway with locks and towpaths that once served the mills. Croix is home to the Villa Cavrois, a modernist house designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens in the early 1930s for a textile industrialist and now restored and open to visitors.
