East Chattanooga Map Poster & Print
East Chattanooga lies northeast of downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the flat valley floor between the Tennessee River and the ridges that run through the city. On the map, it is a patchwork of small residential grids, each set at a slightly different angle, divided by rail corridors and the long lines of industrial sites.
Chattanooga grew as a railroad city, and this part of town shows it clearly. Tracks and yards cut through the neighbourhoods, and the older blocks grew up around them. To the east, Missionary Ridge rises as a long wooded crest, one of several ridges that give the Chattanooga valley its distinctive striped landscape.
An East Chattanooga map poster focuses on the part of the city where people live and work, rather than on its postcard views. The rail lines, the shifting grids and the ridge on the horizon form a clear, honest composition. In black and white, the diagonal tracks stand out strongly against the streets.

Small residential grids sit at different angles to one another, a sign of neighbourhoods that were laid out piece by piece over time.
Missionary Ridge
The long ridge east of the neighbourhood runs roughly north to south, and roads bend to find their way over or around it.
