Fuki lies in the Nara Basin in western Nara Prefecture, the flat, enclosed plain where some of Japan's earliest capitals were built more than a thousand years ago. The land here is low and level, and hills rise along the western edge of the basin towards the border with Osaka.
From above, the area shows the typical texture of the basin's suburbs.
