Gallup Map Poster & Print
Gallup, in western New Mexico, is shaped by the routes that pass through it. The railway, historic Route 66 and Interstate 40 run side by side along the valley of the Puerco River, and the town stretches along them for miles. On the map, these parallel lines form a strong horizontal axis.
The downtown grid sits close to the tracks, with neighbourhoods climbing the slopes on either side. Beyond, the streets give way to mesas, arroyos and red sandstone formations, including those at Red Rock Park east of town. The terrain leaves wide gaps between built areas.
Gallup is a major trading centre for the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo, and it hosts the long-running Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. A Gallup map poster turns this corridor town into a clean study of lines crossing the high desert.
