Inhapi is a small municipality in the interior of Alagoas, in north-eastern Brazil, in the semi-arid region known as the sertão. The town is a compact cluster of streets around its central square. Around it, the map opens onto sparse countryside: dirt roads, small farms, scattered houses and seasonal watercourses that fill only when the rains come.
Life in this part of Alagoas is shaped by a dry climate, and the landscape reflects that. Small reservoirs and ponds, often built to store water, show up on the map as irregular shapes among the fields. Roads link the town to rural communities and to neighbouring municipalities across the plateau.
