Kakiri is a town in Wakiso District in central Uganda, northwest of Kampala. From above, it follows a pattern common to many towns in the region. The main road runs straight through the centre, with shops and markets gathered along it, and residential lanes branch away into the surrounding hills.
The land here is green and gently rolling, with small farms, gardens and patches of wetland in the valleys. Beyond the town centre, settlement becomes scattered, with homes set among plots of banana and other crops. Footpaths and dirt roads form a loose network between them.
