Kyabé is in the Moyen-Chari province of southern Chad, in the Sudanian savanna not far from the border with the Central African Republic. The land is flat and fairly wooded. A long rainy season fills seasonal rivers and floodplains, and a dry season follows. Farming and fishing are part of local life.
From above, Kyabé is a spread-out town. Its streets are mostly unpaved lanes that separate compounds and fields, and they form a loose, uneven network. A few main roads cross it and lead out to neighbouring settlements. Beyond the town, the savanna takes over, with farmland, trees and waterways that change with the seasons.
