Lohr am Main is a town in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, situated where the small Lohr river joins the Main. The old town lies along the right bank of the main river, with narrow streets, half-timbered houses and a compact centre that is easy to identify on the map. A bridge crosses to the opposite bank, where newer districts continue.
The town lies on the edge of the Spessart, one of the largest continuous forests in Germany. On a wider map the wooded hills close in on the valley from both sides, and the Main winds between them in a broad curve. The Lohr valley leads away from the town into the forest.
