Siverskyi Donets loops
The river winds through a wide wooded floodplain below the city. Its oxbows and meanders are the most striking natural lines on the map.

Lysychansk Map Poster & Print
Lysychansk stands on the right bank of the Siverskyi Donets in Luhansk Oblast. Across the river lies Sievierodonetsk, and the two cities face each other over a broad floodplain of oxbows, wetland and woods. The river loops heavily here, and on a map its bends frame the southern city like a drawn border.
The land rises sharply from the water. Lysychansk is built on uneven, hilly ground, and its streets follow ridges and drop into ravines instead of forming a regular grid. Coal mining shaped the town from the eighteenth century onward. Heavy industry followed, including a large oil refinery on the outskirts.
The city was badly damaged during the fighting of 2022. For many former residents, a Lysychansk map poster is a way to keep hold of the street layout as they remember it. In black and white the drawing is spare: river loops, climbing roads, rail lines and districts spread across the high bank.

Hills and ravines
Streets bend around slopes and gullies instead of running straight. This gives the city an irregular, branching pattern typical of settlements on high river banks.
Twin city across water
Sievierodonetsk lies just across the floodplain. At a wider framing, the two cities read as a pair divided by the river.
