Ma Tau Wai is an area in Kowloon City District, Hong Kong, near To Kwa Wan and Hung Hom. From above it is a compact grid of city blocks lined with tenement buildings and low-rise and mid-rise residential towers, crossed by busy roads that run toward the harbour and the rest of Kowloon.
The neighbourhood lies close to the former Kai Tak airport, whose runway once stretched into Victoria Harbour and whose site has been redeveloped in recent years. Height restrictions tied to the old flight path long shaped buildings in this part of Kowloon. Today the area is served by the Tuen Ma line, with To Kwa Wan station nearby.
