Mīzan Teferī is a town in the green southwest of Ethiopia. Together with neighbouring Aman, it forms a single urban area, often called Mizan-Aman. The country here is hilly and well-watered, very different from the drier regions of the country. From above, streets follow the ridges and slopes, not a grid, and the built-up area spreads in irregular shapes between wooded valleys.
This is one of Ethiopia's coffee-growing regions, where forest and farmland alternate on the hillsides. The map reflects that. The main road through town connects it to the wider highland network in the region.
