Mooka, also written Mōka, is a city in southeastern Tochigi Prefecture, on the flat farmland of the northern Kanto plain. On a map it appears as a compact centre gathered around its railway station, with residential streets thinning quickly into paddies, fields and small villages. Rivers flow south through the area and mark out long north–south bands in the landscape.
The city is known across Japan as a major strawberry-growing area. It is also home to the Mooka Railway, where the SL Mooka steam train runs on weekends toward the pottery town of Mashiko and beyond. Industrial parks on the outskirts add larger, more regular blocks to the edges of the map.
