Nahiyat Ghammas Map Poster & Print
Nahiyat Ghammas is a town in Al-Qadisiyah Governorate in southern Iraq, set within the flat alluvial land of the middle Euphrates. Seen from above, the landscape around it is almost entirely agricultural, divided into long fields by canals and drainage ditches that follow the gentle slope of the plain.
The town itself forms a modest cluster of streets at the centre of this farmland, with roads leading out across the fields to neighbouring villages. The surrounding district belongs to one of Iraq's traditional grain-growing areas, where river water has been guided into fields for a very long time, and that careful management of water is what gives the map its texture.
A Nahiyat Ghammas map poster is less about monuments than about pattern. The regular strips of cultivated land, the thin lines of channels and the compact heart of the town make a quiet, almost abstract composition. For anyone connected to this part of Qadisiyah, it is a record of a place shaped by the river and the work of farming it.
