Parkland is an unincorporated community in Pierce County, Washington, just south of Tacoma. On a map it reads as a spread of residential streets. Some areas keep an older rectangular pattern, while others have the curving loops and cul-de-sacs of later housing. Pacific Avenue runs north to south through the middle and acts as the main commercial spine.
The clearest landmark is Pacific Lutheran University. Its campus is a distinct area of buildings, lawns and trees, with a different, more open texture than the housing around it.
