Siloam Springs is in Benton County in northwest Arkansas, directly on the Oklahoma state line. It grew in the 1880s around natural springs believed to have healing properties, and it took its name from the biblical Pool of Siloam. Today it is also known as the home of John Brown University, whose campus occupies a large part of the town.
The map shows how the springs shaped the town. Sager Creek runs through the downtown area, and the historic centre curves along it, with small parks and walkways following the water. Around this core, residential streets form a looser grid that stretches across the rolling Ozark terrain, and the state line draws a straight border on the western side.
