Tuymazy Map Poster & Print
Tuymazy is a town in the west of Bashkortostan, in the hilly country between the Volga and the Ural Mountains. On a map it shows the structure of a planned Soviet town: long straight avenues, large residential blocks set around open courtyards, and industrial areas at the edges, all laid out in a river valley.
The town grew with the Tuymazy oil field, discovered in the 1930s and one of the major early oil fields of the Volga–Ural region. The industry shaped its layout, and pipelines, rail lines and roads connect it to the surrounding oil settlements and farmland.
A Tuymazy map poster shows the order of the town's plan. The main avenues form a firm framework, the blocks of flats appear as regular rectangles, and the river and surrounding slopes introduce softer lines around the edges. It is a map that speaks of work, planning and a particular era.
