Gray's Lake
The lake that gave the village its name sits close to the historic centre, a clean open shape that the surrounding streets bend around.

Grayslake Map Poster & Print
Grayslake is a village in Lake County, north-west of Chicago, and it takes its name from the small lake near its centre. From above, that body of water is the obvious anchor. Around it the older part of the village keeps a modest grid near the downtown, while later neighbourhoods are drawn as looping streets, cul-de-sacs and ponds typical of postwar suburban growth across the region.
Rail gave the village its shape. Two Metra commuter lines run through Grayslake, and their straight diagonals slice across the curving residential pattern, creating crisp lines against the softer street layout. The main campus of the College of Lake County sits here as well, visible on the map as a broad, open block with parking fields and internal drives.
A Grayslake map poster captures the mix of lake, rail and suburban curve that defines much of the area north of Chicago. The surrounding land is flat, dotted with wetlands, retention ponds and forest preserves, so water appears again and again as pale shapes among the streets. In black and white the result is surprisingly graphic, with the lake holding the composition together.

Two rail lines
Metra's commuter tracks cross the village on separate alignments, drawing firm straight strokes through neighbourhoods that are otherwise laid out in curves and loops.
Suburban loops
Newer subdivisions appear as winding streets, crescents and cul-de-sacs, often edged by ponds and wetlands that add pale, rounded shapes to the pattern.

Miért Grayslake?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Many people call Grayslake home for decades. It is where they raised children, commuted into Chicago or studied at the college. A map of its streets marks that chapter more personally than a skyline print of the big city could.
Add your family name as the title, a move-in date as the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line if you wish. Pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a print, with or without a wooden frame.
