The Jaguaribe River
Ceará's main river passes the town and draws a long, natural line across the map. Its course contrasts with the straight streets on the settled side.

Iguatu Map Poster & Print
Iguatu lies in the Centro-Sul of Ceará, on the Jaguaribe, the state's best-known river. From above, water is what sets it apart from much of the surrounding sertão. The river runs past the town, and several lagoons lie among the streets and on the outskirts. On a map they appear as smooth, rounded shapes set against the regular blocks.
The centre is laid out in the usual pattern of a Brazilian interior town: a grid of straight streets around squares and a main church. Outward from there, neighbourhoods follow the routes that leave the town, and they bend around the water bodies instead of crossing them. Past the last houses, the land opens into farmland and the dry scrub of the caatinga.
An Iguatu map poster plays on that interplay of water and grid. The name is usually traced to Tupi and linked to good water, which fits a place defined by its river and lagoons. In black and white, the lagoons become clean open spaces inside the street pattern. That gives the composition breathing room and a clear sense of where the town sits in its landscape.

Lagoons among the streets
Lagoons sit within and around the urban area. They show up as rounded blank shapes that the surrounding blocks curve to follow.
Central grid and squares
The older core follows a regular grid with open squares. It forms a dense, orderly heart from which the newer districts spread outward.

Miért Iguatu?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Iguatu matters to people who grew up by its lagoons or left for Fortaleza and further afield. Water and grid together make a map that feels open and calm. It suits a bright room or an office, and it works as a gift that says home without needing words.
