Compact town core
The built-up area is small and dense, with a tight knot of streets at the centre that loosens into lanes and roads heading out across the countryside.

Morigaon Map Poster & Print
Morigaon lies on the flat alluvial plain south of the Brahmaputra in central Assam, and on a map the town reads as a compact cluster of streets surrounded by open land. There are no hills to bend the roads here. Streets run where the ground is dry enough to carry them, and the town thins out quickly into fields, ponds and scattered settlements that follow the lines of rural roads.
Water shapes almost everything around the town. The Brahmaputra's wide, braided channel sits to the north, and the surrounding district is marked by marshes, oxbow lakes and seasonal wetlands that appear as irregular pale patches between fields. A Morigaon map poster captures that balance between a small built-up core and the lowland around it, a pattern typical of the Assam valley, where the river sets the terms.
Morigaon is the headquarters of the district of the same name. The district includes Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, known for one of the densest populations of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, and the village of Mayong, long associated in Assamese folklore with magic and old ritual traditions. The town itself is modest in size, and that modesty is exactly what gives its street plan a quiet, legible shape.

Floodplain wetlands
Around the town, ponds, marshes and old river channels break up the farmland, giving the edges of the map an irregular, watery texture rather than straight field lines.
Brahmaputra to the north
The great river runs north of the town across a broad, shifting bed, and its presence explains the flat terrain and the way roads keep to higher ground.
