Sambre–Meuse confluence
The narrower Sambre enters the broad Meuse just below the citadel. The sharp point of land between them anchors the whole map and gives the centre its triangular outline.

Namur Map Poster & Print
Namur sits exactly where the Sambre flows into the Meuse, and from above the whole city is organised around that meeting point. A long spur of rock rises between the two rivers and carries the fortified citadel. The old town fills the flat land on the north bank of the Sambre. Across the Meuse, Jambes spreads out in looser blocks, joined to the centre by a short run of bridges.
Namur is the capital of Wallonia and home to the regional parliament and government. Its street plan, though, is still that of a medieval river town rather than an administrative capital. Narrow lanes curve between small squares, the railway runs along the northern edge of the historic core, and wider boulevards follow the line of the old fortifications. Beyond them the valley sides climb steeply and squeeze the built-up area into long strips along the water.
A Namur map poster reduces all of this to line and space: the wide double ribbon of the rivers, the dense knot of the centre, the roads winding up to the citadel plateau and the woods closing in on every side. The result is quiet and easy to read. In black and white the confluence looks almost like a diagram of why the city is there at all.

The citadel spur
Fortifications have stood on the rocky promontory above the rivers for centuries. On the map its winding access roads and open plateau make a distinct zone above the dense streets below.
Old town lanes
North of the Sambre, the historic centre is a tight mesh of short, irregular streets. The railway and a ring of boulevards, laid over the old defensive line, mark its edges.

Miért Namur?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
People who studied, worked or grew up in Namur tend to remember it through its rivers: walks along the Meuse, the climb to the citadel, the bridges over to Jambes. A map poster keeps that geography on the wall in a way that feels considered rather than sentimental, and it fits a hallway as well as a study.
You can set your own title and subtitle, edit the coordinates line or add a date that matters to you, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. For $9 the digital HD files cover six print sizes. You can also order a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
