Section-line arteries
Long, straight roads follow the old survey grid at regular intervals, giving the map a clear structure against which the winding residential streets and cul-de-sacs stand out.

Northbrook Map Poster & Print
From above, Northbrook reads as a patchwork typical of Chicago's northern suburbs: an older core around the railroad, then wide rings of curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and office campuses. Major arteries follow a near-perfect compass grid, and the expressways along the edges frame the village like the border of a print. Between them, the pattern softens into loops and crescents.
A fork of the Chicago River's North Branch threads through the village from north to south, traced on the map by a thin ribbon of forest preserve and open green. The town was known as Shermerville until 1923, when residents chose the name Northbrook, a nod to that same stream. The rail line that gave the settlement its start still runs through the downtown.
A Northbrook map poster suits people who grew up among these tree-lined blocks, commuted from the station, or settled here for the schools. In monochrome, the contrast between the rigid section-line roads and the looser neighborhood curves becomes the main subject, and the river corridor adds a single organic line that ties the whole composition together.

River fork corridor
A fork of the Chicago River's North Branch runs through town, bordered by forest preserve land that shows up as a soft, irregular band of open space.
Downtown by the tracks
The compact older center gathers around the commuter rail line, where a tighter pattern of short blocks marks the original settlement once called Shermerville.

Miért Northbrook?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Northbrook is often a place of family milestones: a first house, school years, a long commute that became routine. A poster of its streets captures that everyday geography in a form that works in a hallway or home office, quiet enough to live with for years.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a moving-in date, and edit the coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
