Lake Petén Itzá
The lake fills the northern part of the map. Its winding shoreline and inlets create the strongest shapes in the composition.

San Benito Map Poster & Print
San Benito lies on the southern shore of Lake Petén Itzá in Guatemala's Petén department. It forms one continuous urban area with Santa Elena. Together they face the small island of Flores, which a causeway links to the mainland. On a map, San Benito is a compact grid of streets running up from the waterline, with the lake's irregular shore forming a sharp, curving northern edge.
The lakeshore towns are the main gateway to the Maya sites of the Petén, including Tikal, which is reached by road from here. Mundo Maya International Airport lies nearby, on the edge of Santa Elena. San Benito itself is largely residential and commercial. It is a working town on the lake rather than a tourist centre, and its streets show steady growth outward from the shore.
A San Benito map poster frames the town together with the lake and the island of Flores, so the composition is as much about land and water as about streets. It suits people from Petén and travellers who spent time on the lakeshore on the way to Tikal. It also suits anyone who likes maps where a shoreline does much of the work.

Island of Flores
The small island town sits just offshore, a tight cluster of streets connected by a causeway. It gives the map a distinctive focal point.
Twin-town grid
San Benito's blocks merge with those of Santa Elena, forming a continuous grid along the southern shore that reads as one urban area from above.
